Zinedine Zidane

Zinedine Zidane - France

Zidanes finest moments came during the World Cup 1998 finals in his home country, France. Despite being sent off in the game against Saudi Arabia, Zidane was great during the 1998 world cup finals, arguably his greatest ever match even to this date was the 3-0 final win over Brazil. He showed how much of a tough character he is mentally in the final by coming back from a two match suspension and heading the 2 goals for the French in the final which ensured them winning the world cup. Zidane’s fine skills and exquisite performances earned him world recognition during that competition and he was arguably the best player in the world cup finals of that year.

Two years later he was thought as being the best footballer around the globe after his sparkling performance in the European Championships of 2000.

His world cup success with France in 1998 earned him the titles of ‘European player of the year,’ for that year and ‘FIFA world footballer of the year’ as well. His great play for both club and country in 2000, earned him the honour of ‘FIFA world player of the year,’ for the second time. He played for France in the world cup in 2002; however he along with the rest of the French national side had a disappointing tournament. It was the 2006 world cup finals, where Zidane, having come out of retirement was named player of the tournament, helping his nation reach the final of the world cup. He was inspiration in the quarter final win against Brazil, howveer he turned for Hero to villan in the final for being sent off against Italy, headbutting an Italian player.
