Serbia football
Although the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia started on April 28, 1992, due to the international sanctions due to the Yugoslav wars stopping the country from international sporting events, the football side did not play its first game until 23 December 1994, when they suffered defeat to Brazil. Since then the side has qualified for the World Cup twice, in 1998 and 2006, and for the euro's once, in 2000. In 2003, with the reconstitution of the country as Serbia and Montenegro, the side switched its name.
Serbia enterred the 2006 world cup finals, however went out early, inclduing defeat against Argentina.
