Czech Republic football
When the Czech Republic was a segment of Czechoslovakia, the national side had runner-up finishes in two World Cups (1934, 1962) and won the 1976 European Championship. After Czechoslovakia divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia, the national side was reformed, and played its debut match against Turkey in 1994.
Now, the Czech Republic is continuing its soccer tradition, finishing in the final of Euro 96 and making the semifinals of Euro 2004. They made their first World Cup as an independent country in 2006 and they have sustained very high FIFA rankings over the last few years.
The Under-21 national side of Czech Republic won the European championship in 2002.
